Abstract

C-nucleosides are important synthetic targets due to their potential as therapeutic agents and as biochemical probes. Nucleosides and nucleoside biochemistry lie at the heart of life and life propagation, and therefore nucleoside analogues have attracted much attention as anti-microbial and anti-cancer agents. In the recent past several groups reported their effort in the preparation of unnatural C-nucleosides based on deoxyribose and ribose. This review summarises the state of the art in the preparation of modified C-nucleosides and their medicinal properties.
