Computers: Classical, Quantum and Others
Algorithms for Construction of Reality in Physics: Volume 1
This volume elaborates upon functioning of a quantum computer and the analysis of mind phenomenon in a natural scientific paradigm. Many outstanding physicists - Bohr, Heisenberg et al.- considered that many aspects of quantum physics could be understood considering the laws of perception, linguistics and semiotics within the world's semiotic description. An analysis of would-be scientific theories and paradoxes connected with a number of unformulated statements regarding initial information is therefore presented. These, in turn, could be used to draw algorithms that generate a picture of reality in the human mind. The eBook also attempts to find out what is available to an observer from his/her standpoint (reference system), and from what theoretical standpoints that observation is developed. The initial point of this approach is recognizing that we are closed inside the semiotic system in which the ‘universe’ can only be presented to our mind. Such semiotic restrictions for translation of knowledge in any field are considered. This book is intended as a resource for senior students and researchers in natural sciences, scientific philosophy and contemporary psychology.

Consanguinity - Its Impact, Consequences and Management
Consanguineous marriages have been practiced for hundreds of years, predominantly by Moslems. Although it is generally accepted among communities that the social advantages outweigh other, the rate of congenital malformations and genetic diseases among the offspring borne of consanguineous marriages is higher and an increase in sterility, rates of abortions, stillbirths and neonatal deaths has been suggested by some researchers. These problems result in a substantial economic burden within the communities involved in the practice. Strategies for reducing the frequency of consanguineous marriages include expansion of educational programs, promotion of genetic testing services, and research to identify the genes responsible for genetic defects. Nowadays, with the migration of large numbers of Moslems towards Western countries, consanguinity is becoming a practical issue in places where it was barely known, previously. This eBook serves as a guide for health care workers and counselors of the phenomenon and its associated problems. This eBook begins with an introduction of the topic from a social, legal and biological perspective. It then progresses to research about associated genetic disorders, reproductive and social awareness issues through the proceeding chapters. The eBook concludes with 2 chapters exploring strategies to counter the effects of consanguinity within the general population.

Consent: Practical Principles For Clinicians
Obtaining proper patient consent in clinical care is vital in current times. The approach of 'doctor knows best' is now superseded by patient rights to make decisions. The approach of this book from the author's experience of 13 years in Clinical Risk Management with a special interest in generic consent is to combine different disciplines into a more unified approach that reflects every day practice, rather than citing individual examples of law case studies. By analyzing the elements of these different disciplines a more logical, practical and synergistic approach to consent is achieved. This book differs from others in that the principle elements are combined into one text. The book should help professional and trainee clinicians to acquire a wider understanding of the fundamental principles of medical law, ethics and risk management and their combined role in many situations, particularly in the NHS.

Control of Pancreatic Beta Cell Function and Plasticity in Health and Diabetes
Current and Future Developments in Physiology: Volume 1
Plasticity in insulin-producing cells (β-cells) of the pancreas is a major contributor to metabolic control. Targeted regeneration of pancreatic β-cells for the reversal of diabetes (by optimizing β-cells mass and proliferation to meet metabolic requirements and counter autoimmune response) is still a theoretical intervention. This monograph reviews the biology, ontogeny, capabilities, and present practical limitations of β-cell plasticity. Relevant biochemical pathways are described with the inclusion of information about how they change with aging, during pregnancy, and with diet. Readers will learn the following key aspects about β-cell plasticity:
-current knowledge of pancreatic β-cells development, and how β-cell mass and proliferation change throughout the human lifespan
-the mechanisms responsible for β-cell plasticity, based on animal models and clinical studies revealing environmental, epigenetic, endocrine and paracrine regulators
-the therapeutic potential of resident stem cells within the pancreas / bone marrow and β-cell progenitors
This monograph is essential reading for researchers interested in updated knowledge about the molecular and cellular biology of β-cells in the quest to find a reliable therapy for diabetes.

Convergence Theorems for Lattice Group-Valued Measures
Convergence Theorems for Lattice Group-valued Measures explains limit and boundedness theorems for measures taking values in abstract structures. The book begins with a historical survey about these topics since the beginning of the last century, moving on to basic notions and preliminaries on filters/ideals, lattice groups, measures and tools which are featured in the rest of this text. Readers will also find a survey on recent classical results about limit, boundedness and extension theorems for lattice group-valued measures followed by information about recent developments on these kinds of theorems and several results in the setting of filter/ideal convergence. In addition, each chapter has a general description of the topics and an appendix on random variables, concepts and lattices is also provided. Thus readers will benefit from this book through an easy-to-read historical survey about all the problems on convergence and boundedness theorems, and the techniques and tools which are used to prove the main results. The book serves as a primer for undergraduate, postgraduate and Ph. D. students on mathematical lattice and topological groups and filters, and a treatise for expert researchers who aim to extend their knowledge base.

Coronavirus Disease-19 (COVID-19): Different Models and Treatment Strategies
Coronavirus Disease-19 (COVID-19): A Perspective of New Scenario: Volume 2
In this book volume-2 proposal has been classified into Part IV: Models for SARS-CoV-2 and Part V: Treatment Strategies for SARS-CoV-2. With the emergence of new coronavirus variants, epidemiology, different host tropism permits a thorough analysis of their evolution and acquired adaptability to their host which need different animal models and treatment approaches. No studies are complete without animal models closely related to human physiology to replicate the disease and observe the pathology conditions as in human cases. Such animal models play a vital role in virus pathogenesis and prepare a therapeutic immune response. Here describe bio-engineered transgenic mouse model inserting with specific genes, or CRISPR-Case9 gene-editing tool has been used previously for SARS-CoV and MERS-CoV. The chapter will deal with culture techniques or cell lines for COVID-19—also histopathology of COVID-19, essential proteins that up or down-regulate SARS-CoV-2. The last chapter of this part will describe other diseases having similar signs and symptoms and their differentiation. There is no specific treatment available to date, just symptomatic therapy. However, scientists will elucidate effective antiviral drugs in clinical trials, phytochemicals, photomedicine such as ultraviolet A & B, homemade remedies, blood plasma transfusion, stem cell therapy, and computational approaches in vivo and in vitro trials. This book will appear as a baseline for academicians, scientists, and health professionals as still, research is going to overcome this outbreak of COVID-19, the novelty of best animal models, and find an effective treatment. However, just a single book proposal like this wouldn't have flourished without enthusiasm and determined publishers' and investigators' strength to take time from their busy schedule and subsidize on time. We thank the whole investigators who contributed, directly and indirectly, to bring it to reality.
