Abstract

A facile microwave heating method was applied to the preparation of nickel-dimethylglyoxime microtubes in half an hour, using nickel nitrate and diacetyldioxime as starting reagents, in the absence of template or surfactant. The products were characterized by X-Ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and infrared spectroscopy (IR). Results show that those microtubes with lengths of 100-500 µm and diameters of 10-15 µm are hollowed. Furthermore, these microtube are hollowed via an inside to outside process under microwave irradiation. For comparison, experiments were carried out under refluxing conditions.
