Recurrent Aphthous Stomatitis (RAS), which has symptoms like pain while

eating, speaking, or swallowing, is one of the most hurtful oral mucosal inflammatory

ulcerative diseases [1]. Tumor necrosis factor α (TNF α), has a main role in

predominantly cell-mediated immune response due to the pathogenesis of RAS. The

aim of this study was to investigate the therapeutic effects of Beta-glucan on the

response of lymphocytes with and without phytohemagglutinin (PHA), a T lymphocyte

mitogen, in treatment of RAS. RAS, estimated by the Ulcer Severity Score (USS),

shows ulcer characteristics (number, size, duration, ulcer-free period, site, and pain).
