Abstract

Deep vein thrombosis (DVT) poses a threat in patients undergoing major operations especially, abdominal surgery. Hence, it is a well established, to use thromboprophylaxis for these patients. We provide an overview of the current practices and the future advancement of DVT prophylaxis.
