Abstract

Bone tissue engineering, which typically involves the assembly of bone structures by combining bone cells and scaffolds, offers a promising opportunity for bone regeneration in a natural way. Hence the scaffold is one of the most crucial factors to determine the fate of osteogenesis in bone repair and regeneration. This article made a review on the progress of scaffolds and substitutes with various nanostructures for bone repair according to recent patents. The aspects mainly include nanofibrous composites as scaffolds, nanostructured scaffolds composed of biological materials, method to create connective porous nanostructured composite scaffold, nanostructured surface of medical device for bone implants, nanostructured composites from decellularized natural tissue, nanofiber reinforcement composite, and spray drying technology for preparing nanostructured bioactive materials.
