Abstract

Ultrasound, today, with non-invasive and non-destructive features, has taken place between most popular and widely used diagnostic tools. Being inexpensive and portable has made ultrasound a tool that is preferred widely in medical diagnostic applications. Ultrasound thickness measurement devices are based on A-mode scanning and echo-ranging principle. This study examines the patents related to ultrasonic thickness measurement systems which are widely used in diagnostic medicine. In this paper, it has been revealed that, these systems are used in various fields of medicine to carry out thickness measurement, even of very thin and delicate tissues, such as blood vessels, without requiring surgical intervention.
